Conversations with Chloe

Here's one:

Chloe (age ... 7):   Grandma, you know I have a job.
Me:  Really?  Doing what?
Chloe:  Well, I sell things.
Me:  What do you sell?
Chloe:   Well, you know how I sew?  I sew things, and then sell them at my friends house.   I sent out a bunch of invitations and a bunch of people came and bought stuff.  I even bought stuff.
Me:  Really?   Hmm.  I'll have to ask your mom about this job.
Chloe:   Well, only my dad knows.
Chloe:  And, it was a long time ago
Chloe:  We don't do it any more!

Sleepin' at Grammys....

Elijah is sleeping in the cradle my dad made for my son when he was born...lets see, in 1977!!   The cradle has been enjoyed by two of my children, nieces and nephews, and now here Elijah is sleeping in it!   Precious, precious memories.

I was very lonesome for my other three children today and my ChloeBean and Brooklyn James.   It was a cloudy dreary day outside as well!   We did enjoy Elijah and my youngest daughter and husband coming over today.

Have a great Monday, one and all!

Fun TImes

Brooklyn got to spend the whole day Saturday at our house with his buddy, Bailey.  They had fun playing games, running, riding bikes,  just about all the fun stuff boys like to do!  They had some good kids' food for lunch together, and later enjoyed brownies fresh from the oven.  It is so great that Brooklyn has a good friend right around the corner at Grandma's house!
He also challenged his grandpa to a game of Wii.   Grandpa wasn't much of a challenge!

Brooklyn Writes #4

Bear with me as I continue to share some of the writings from Brooklyn's winter break:

This is what it says:

Yesterday I played with Bailey.  It was fun. We payed the ipad and ipod.  We also played wii.  We played.  I ran man.  It was fun.   We also played ide and go seek.  I hid in the closet   he colednt find me   That is what we did!

Bailey is the son of my friend, and it is really great that he and Brooklyn are buddies!   They had a blast getting together over break!

This one reads:

I went to the dentes today.  I got to teeth pulled.  It didn't hurt.   Why did it not hurt becaus they numed it and it rouend my vaction.   That is technically did today.  PS  was num for hours

Can you blame him?  Who wants to have two teeth pulled by the dentist during their vacation?  Hopefully, his teacher is continuing to make him write, spell and read!  (I am sure she is, and his grades are great!!!)

Brooklyn Writes #3

Here is another sharing of Brooklyn's writings:

It reads:

If I had majick for a day I would make me win the Xbox 360 Kneckt.  Next I would make my Dad win the Lotto.  After that, I would turn my self Invisabel.  That's what I would do with majick.

Oh, if we only had magic!!

And, here's another:

If I could choose my own lunch,  It would be steak and potatos.   It would also be water.  It would have salt and pepper.  Thats what I would choose.

Now, there's a guy who knows what he wants for lunch!!!

Brooklyn Writes #2

Here, as promised are two more of the writings from winter break that Brooklyn did:

This one reads:
I played marbels with my Ant and my soon to be uncel.  It was pretty fun.  Jessy one almost every one.  Expt for to.  I one 1 of them.  My Ant 1 1 of them 2.   that was how fun it was.

PS It was fun.

As you see, I went through it with him and discussed some spelling issues.   And, I can already see some bad "texting" habits in his writing.   ....

Now...this was my favorite:
It reads:

I like my Grandma becaus she is nise.  Next she is also fun.  After that she is the funest on the earth to.  Last this is what I like about my grandma.  PS I love you

See why I like it??   I didn't write the corrections on this one...perfect as is for grammy...

Brooklyn Writes #1

Yay, think I am about back to normal.  I was back to work on Monday, but it has taken most of the week to gain my strength, and get my tummy under control...so I am back.  Yay!

When Brooklyn was here during his winter break, his mama told us he was to practice writing.   So, of couse, we complied.

I want to share some of his writing.

This one explained it all:

Here is what it says:

Brooklyn    12-7-10

I don't like wrighting.  Is because it is boring.   It is also a wast of time.  Last But not Least It ruined my vaction!!!!!!!!!!!! That is why I don't Like wrighting!

P.S.  I hate It.

Ha.   I can see why he had to write.   He is really, really smart, but does not like to read or write, which is opposite of me.   He can spell, but I see he doesn't seem to care about spelling when he writes.   He LOVES math and science, but I am encouraging him to like reading (we still read together when he is here at bedtime) and write...so wish me luck.

Upcoming..more writing  fun!

And then...

I didn't mention that I got this beautiful new pinky ring from my hubby for Christmas!!

It's so pretty!   This picture really doesn't give it justice. (Last year I got the one on my fourth finger for Christmas!)   Lucky me!!!

So, then, I got this ring for Chloe while she visited, so all the girls would have a new ring:

It is sure nothing fancy, but she loved it.  I had gone looking for one of those little adjustable rings that we used to get when I was a kid.  Couldn't find one..wonder if they even make them.  But, found this "jewel" at K-mart and it fit the bill.  Had to wrap the back with some yarn to make it fit!  (I couldn't remember how we used to do that with class rings when we went steady??)

And, of course, can't leave out the grandson:

He just really "needed" a watch so he won't have to turn around in class and look at the clock and get in trouble.  My advice to not worry about the time and just work until the bell rang was not that well taken.   Ha!   But, he would not be too interested in a ring!   At a visit to the jewelry store, they both picked out stuff....and I said "no!".   But, surprised them later with these great Kmart buys!   :-)   Perfect price for kids and grandmas!

Good Times...

Our grandson has been here since right after Thanksgiving.  Since he has year round school, he is "off track" right now.   We are enjoying every second.  The bad part is we still have to work  :-(  I have taken a couple days off or partly off, and so has Grandpa.  Auntie Crystal is also helping out with some marble games to spend some time!    But, our big boy has been so good and had so much fun.

A few nights ago, he helped me and my coworker ring the bell for salvation army.

Then, he held this sign up for a while:

Do you think he got any takers?   Ha ha.

The sign was actually for earlier in the evening, when a couple of other coworkers had brought a dog from the local pound to try to get him adopted!!!

Well, the Cougars remained undefeated, and Brooklyn and his dad were very hyper and excited about the final game...sounds like it was very exciting.  What great father/son memories!

Words of Wisdom...

Hope you all had a great Mothers Day. I felt very blessed with my mom and with being a mom...

I haven't blogged much. My grandson, Brooklyn was here for his break. He goes to year round school, now, so had 3 weeks off. I didn't want to say much because we wanted to surprise Chrissy and Chloe with his visit and attendance at the dance recital on Saturday! They were surprised!!!

We had such a nice visit, and the kids had fun together. I was so pleased to spend time there! It was fun, and great to be together...more on that soon...

I had to share a few words of wisdom from Brooklyn. A few years ago, I would post funny and cute sayings he said...things like "I love you more than my game boy" and other endearing quotes. He is nearly 10 now, so his quotes have changed some, as you can imagine for a nearly 10 year old boy....

"Did you know your large intestine is nearly as long as a school bus?"
"Do you know how long your tongue is?"
"I am going to watch the movie "Old Dogs" with the old dogs...(referring to Grandma and Grandpa)..."
"Adam could just shoot that" (repeated several times about several kinds of game, and other things as well....
"We should just teleport over there!"
and my favorite...
"I just farted on my seat and it's really warm now...really, try it Grandma!"

HMMM...times change!!

Today's Thankful...and Happy Thursday

Today I want to give gratitude for my grandchildren. I can't tell you the constant joy they give me. Even in thinking of them, my heart is full. They are truly, truly, gifts from God.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE you, Chloe and Brooklyn!

The sun is shining. It is a beautiful day here. I looked at the window here at work and could see some doggies and their humans over at the dog park just having a blast. I wish I were over there with my Sis and Sam!

I am somewhat recovered finally from my week last week at the T + L Conference in Denver. I don't know why, but I was just tired for a few days!!

How are all of you, my blogging friends?? Have a great day!
